The government of Slovakia has decided to introduce a nationwide lockdown in the republic from November 25 for two weeks, writes Startitup. In addition, an emergency regime is introduced for a maximum of 90 days due to the increase in COVID-19 diseases. This was stated by the Prime Minister of Slovakia Eduard Heger.

Slovakia has become the second European country to impose severe restrictions due to the spread of the coronavirus. Previously, the lockdown was announced in Austria.
In Slovakia, a ban on leaving home without a good reason is being introduced, public events will not be held, restaurants and cafes will be closed. They can only sell food and drinks through a special window. Stores will stop working, except for those selling essential goods. Walking is allowed only within the area of residence, no further than 500 meters from the house. It is forbidden to gather in groups of more than six people, unless they are members of the same family living together.
From 05:00 to 01:00 there is a curfew with a ban on free movement.
Employers were ordered by the authorities to periodically conduct tests for COVID-19 among unvaccinated employees who cannot be transferred to a remote work mode. Schools in the republic will not be closed yet. This will happen if the epidemiological situation worsens. Residents of the country are also not prohibited from leaving Slovakia, transfers TASS.
It was decided to send 1,000 military personnel to hospitals to help the doctors.
On December 8, the government will analyze the situation and may decide to extend the nationwide lockdown.
The authorities are also considering the option of mitigating tough restrictions over time, but not for everyone, but only for those vaccinated and recovering from COVID-19. They may be given access to some shops and consumer services.
Slovak doctors have identified 10,315 cases of coronavirus infection over the past day. This is the maximum daily rate recorded in a country with a population of 5 million people during the entire pandemic. Among the new infections, 83% are those who have not been vaccinated. During the day, 71 patients with a diagnosis of COVID-19 died. Total death toll in Slovakia from coronavirus: 14,056.
According to international health organizations, Slovakia ranks first in the world in terms of the number of new patients (1265) over the past seven days per 100 thousand inhabitants. Also, an unfavorable situation with the spread of coronavirus is observed in neighboring countries – Hungary and the Czech Republic.
On December 26, 2020, vaccination against coronavirus began in Slovakia. Immunization has been completed by about 2.5 million residents. Vaccines produced by the American company Pfizer and its German partner BioNTech, American firms Moderna and Johnson & Johnson are supplied to Slovakia.
Summer Slovakia refused from the use of the Russian vaccine “Sputnik V”, the purchase of which led to political scandals. This vaccine never received the approval of the European regulator, and the Slovak regulator found out that the drug from the received batch of Sputnik V was not identical to the one that received a positive review in the authoritative medical journal The Lancet. Slovakia purchased 200 thousand ampoules with the Russian vaccine, but later returned 160 thousand ampoules.
