The criminal case was initiated under clause “a” of part 6 of Art. 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (violation of the rules of the road, resulting in the death of two or more persons by negligence, committed by a person in a state of intoxication). The accused faces a sentence of imprisonment for a term of eight to 15 years.
“The scene of the incident, the car was examined with the participation of a specialist, the damage was recorded, traces and objects of the crime that were important for the investigation were seized, witnesses and eyewitnesses were questioned, expert examinations were appointed,” the RF IC said in a press release.
The investigation will apply for the arrest of the suspect. “In the near future, the issue of the dismissal of this employee of the Investigative Committee of Russia for negative reasons will be resolved,” the statement added. They assured that “the investigation intends to bring the culprit of the accident, regardless of his position, rank and affiliation to the department, to criminal liability to the fullest extent of the law.”
