In 2022, the authorities will allocate about 30 billion rubles to increase the living wage and the minimum wage. About it stated Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Russian Federation Anton Kotyakov.
According to him, in accordance with the president’s decision, the cost of living in the country as a whole per capita in 2022 will be 12,654 rubles, which is an increase of 8.6% against the level of 2021.
“Accordingly, for the able-bodied population, the subsistence minimum will be 13,793 rubles, for pensioners – 10,882 rubles, children – 12,274 rubles,” the minister said.
Speaking about the size of the minimum wage, Kotyakov said that it will be set at 13,890 rubles, which is 8.6% more than the minimum wage for the current year.
“Thanks to this decision, payments will increase for 16 million citizens – these are recipients of child benefits, federal and regional social supplements to pensions, benefits for temporary disability,” he said.
The living wage is used as a criterion of need when assigning social benefits. In addition, social benefits for families with children, federal and regional social benefits to pensions are calculated from the subsistence minimum. The size of the minimum wage affects the establishment of the minimum amount of sick leave and is the minimum bar for the establishment of wages.
