Average consumer prices for gasoline in Russia rose again from October 26 to November 1, 2021, despite a decrease in demand. About it informs Rosstat.
On average, gasoline in the country has risen in price by 12 kopecks to 49.31 rubles per liter. Average prices for AI-92 fuel increased by 11 kopecks – up to 46.37 rubles per liter. Gasoline AI-95 also rose in price by 11 kopecks – up to 50.17 rubles per liter, the cost of gasoline AI-98 increased by 14 kopecks – to 58.05 rubles per liter. Diesel fuel has risen in price by 28 kopecks – up to 51.3 rubles per liter.
“We have a surplus of fuel in our country – more of it is produced than is required for the domestic market,” Grigory Bazhenov, head of the analytical center of the Independent Fuel Union, explained to The Insider. “If we talk about gasoline, there is a proportion of about 90/10 – 90% is consumed within the country and 10% is exported. For diesel, the proportion is somewhere around 50/50 – half is consumed internally, half is exported. In the case of winter diesel, there is a certain difficulty due to the fact that it is more limited in season and is of little interest in terms of export. Its volumes are less than the volumes of alternative oil products, therefore the price reacts in this way. Therefore, there is nothing surprising in the fact that now the difference in prices for summer and winter diesel on the stock exchange is about 17 thousand rubles per ton.
In addition, many independent gas stations are faced with the problem of regulating retail prices. You need to understand that this regulation is tacit, there is no normative document that would fix it – they say “keep prices and do not increase them.” This problem became acute after the price jump that occurred in 2018.
In general, the entire system that has been established in our country does not imply a reduction in fuel prices. therefore retail prices are effectively regulated. If you operate in this market and often face the problem of price disparity, when wholesale prices begin to equal retail prices, you will always increase prices. Today, gasoline is getting cheaper on the stock exchange, because the high season is over. But this does not lead to a decrease in retail prices, ”the expert explained.
According to Rosstat, the rise in gasoline prices was noted in 70 centers of the constituent entities of Russia. Most of all, he rose in price in Magadan – by 0.8%, Abakan and Chita – by 0.7%. In Moscow and St. Petersburg, gasoline prices increased by 0.3%. The decrease in prices for motor gasoline was recorded only in Ryazan – by 0.1%.
