The Decathlon chain stops selling rubber boats in shops in the north of France. How informs BBC Russian Service, this decision was made due to the fact that boats are especially in demand among migrants who cross the English Channel on them.
The boats have been recovered from shops in Calais and in Grande Sainte. At the same time, Decathlon said that the decision was due to concern for migrants, since attempts to cross the English Channel on rubber boats are life-threatening. Earlier, the British authorities demanded that France take action and stop the flow of illegal migrants.
According to the newspaper, on Thursday, November 11, 1185 illegal migrants crossed the English Channel in small boats. Three people who tried to cross the strait between France and Great Britain in a canoe went missing.
Attempts by migrants to enter the United Kingdom continued this week. In northern France, a refugee camp was dismantled, and authorities arrested dozens of smuggling suspects. The migration crisis worsened the already tense relations between the two countries. On Monday, the ministers of Great Britain and France agreed to close the route across the English Channel for migrants.
