French President Emmanuel Macron changed the blue color on the French flag to a darker shade. About it informs TV channel Europe 1.
This information was also confirmed at the Elysee Palace. According to the TV channel, the president made the decision to change the color a year ago “at the insistence of the little-known director of operations at the Elysee Palace, Arnaud Zholans.”
The hue was changed to dark blue for political reasons. Exactly the same was on the flag of 1793 – the symbol of the French Revolution.
As noted by the TV channel, this decision caused a heated debate in the palace, however, the new shade has been used for a year already on the buildings of the Elysee Palace, the National Assembly and on Beauvo Square.
In 1993, the blue tint of the flag was also changed in the Russian tricolor. In August 1991, the Supreme Soviet of the RSFSR adopted a resolution “On the official recognition and use of the National Flag of the RSFSR”, which was a 1: 2 format flag with three colors: the upper stripe was white, the middle one was azure and the bottom one was scarlet. During the preparation of the draft of the new Constitution, the Russian Foreign Ministry proposed to change the aspect ratio of the flag, and the Committee on Culture of the Supreme Soviet – to replace in the description of the colors of the flag “azure” and “scarlet” with “blue” and “red”.
