According to Nelson, not only the landing of astronauts on the moon has been postponed, but also other stages of the program: the flight of the Earth satellite by a ship without a crew, which was previously planned to be carried out in 2021, was postponed to the spring of 2022, while the flight of the moon by a ship with a crew was postponed from 2023. for the spring of 2024.
Nelson also added that one of the reasons that had to adjust the timing of the lunar mission was a lawsuit involving Blue Origin Jeff Bezos and SpaceX Elon Musk. The reason for the dispute between the companies was the contract for the construction of the lunar module, which went to SpaceX. In connection with the proceedings in court, according to the head of NASA, almost seven months were lost, which could have been spent on preparing the lunar mission.
