A referendum on amendments to the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus will take place in February 2022. About it stated Alexander Lukashenko at a meeting of the Supreme State Council of the Union State.
“Quite recently, a constitutional reform was carried out in the Russian Federation and grandiose plans for the reconstruction and arrangement of Russia were outlined. The same thing, and Belarus is next preparing to carry out a constitutional reform. I think that in February, ”Lukashenka said.
Last November he statedthat he will not work as the president of Belarus when the new Constitution is adopted in the country.
“I don’t make any Constitution for myself. I will not work with you as president with the new Constitution. Therefore, calm down, tolerate it calmly, ”Lukashenka said during a visit to one of the city hospitals in Minsk.
Lukashenko then added that he is a supporter of the new Constitution of Belarus, because he considers a threat to a situation in which another person will lead the country with the current version of the Constitution. “You cannot give such a Constitution to an unfamiliar president. There will be trouble, ”Lukashenka stressed.
A referendum on amendments to the Constitution will be held in Belarus, Lukashenka reported in June 2020. He said that the redistribution of powers between the president, government and parliament of Belarus will be clearly spelled out in the updated Constitution.
