The Kuibyshevsky District Court of St. Petersburg extended the preventive measure in the form of detention in a pre-trial detention center for blogger Yuri Khovansky for two months – until January 8. During the meeting, Khovansky himself said that he would not survive his further stay in the pre-trial detention center. According to him, he suffers from “circulatory and organ problems.” Khovansky asked to let him celebrate the New Year with loved ones.

“Your Honor, please heed the voice of reason – another article suits me, the term for which has already expired. They torture me for making the public angry. I regret nothing more than this joke. The deputy of the State Duma vouched for me. I have a stupid sense of humor. I will not survive in a pre-trial detention center, ”Khovansky turned to the judge.

The blogger also said that the investigation is not trying to provide any evidence of his guilt under the incriminated article. writes 78.ru. “The article is non-violent, the investigator simply drags out the arrest for up to a year. Five months studying the song. Once I performed a stupid joke that broke my life. Nine people in the investigation team. The song was performed in 2012, and the article appeared in 2016, ”Khovansky recalled. The court did not heed the blogger’s requests and extended the preventive measure in the form of being in a pre-trial detention center until January 2022, informs United Press Service of the Courts of St. Petersburg.

Recall that earlier the video blogger was included in the register of Russian individuals involved in terrorism and extremism. Now Khovansky is in jail on the case of justifying terrorism. The reason for his excitement was the song he performed about the terrorist attack on Dubrovka in 2002 with obscene expressions in relation to the child victims of the terrorist attack.

According to the investigation, Khovansky’s song contained “signs of public calls for terrorist activities, public justification of terrorism and its propaganda.” The blogger faces from five to seven years in prison with a ban on engaging in certain activities.
