The Ministry of Justice reported on the reasons for the inclusion of journalist Pyotr Manyakhin in the list of “foreign agents”. According to the agency, Manyakhin was added to the register because he called on people to support Meduza after the publication was recognized as an “foreign agent” by the media and wrote an article for Sibir.Realii.
About it writes “Mediazona” with a link to the document, which is at the disposal of the editorial board. According to the newspaper, the Ministry of Justice has sent an objection to the lawsuit filed by Pyotr Manyakhin challenging his entry into the register of “foreign agents”.
The document says that Manyakhin wrote on Twitter: “Medusa must be saved” and attached a link to the publication’s donation page. In addition, in September 2020, the site “Siberia.Realiy” published Manyakhin’s text about police violence in the village of Ust-Ises. Later the text was published by the Krym.Realii edition. Both media are included in the register of “foreign agents”.
There was also foreign funding, according to the Ministry of Justice. In March, Manyakhin received three payments from a foreign account. The journalist explained that this is money that he himself sent from one of his accounts to another.
Manyakhin was included in the register of “foreign agents” along with other journalists of the “Project” publication after it was recognized as an “undesirable organization”.
