On the evening of November 1, two prisoners from Novocherkassk IK-14 set themselves on fire. How explained “Interfax” in the press service of the regional GU FSIN, after dinner they climbed onto the roof of the dining room and set fire to their trousers. Then the convicts allegedly shot down the flames on their own.

“They explained their act by their unwillingness to obey the legal requirements of the administration of the institution and move to another detachment,” the department added.

Medical assistance was provided to the victims on the spot, but they were not hospitalized. The doctors concluded that the prisoners received “minor superficial burns.”

The victims are on the preventive record as prone to self-harm, say the press service of the Main Directorate of the Federal Penitentiary Service.

IK-14 is a strict regime colony. Prisoners in the Rostov colonies say that the system of extortion in these institutions has been put on stream. According to the convicts, violence is used against those who do not hand over money. “Each detachment must hand over a month – this is only a” common fund “- at least 150 thousand”, – told 161.ru one of the convicts. According to him, this money is transferred not only to crime bosses, but also to the head of the operative department.

Prisoners in Rostov colonies also reported beatings and torture.
