The court found the defendants in the Zimnyaya Vishnya fire case guilty. They were sentenced to terms from 5 to 14 years in prison

The Zavodskoy District Court of Kemerovo found eight defendants in the case of the fire in the Kemerovo shopping center Zimnyaya Vishnya, where 60 people died in 2018. They were sentenced to terms from 5 to 14 years in prison, informs TASS.

Yulia Bogdanova, ex-general director of the company that owns Winter Cherry, received the maximum term. The general director of the main tenant of the shopping center, Nadezhda Suddenok, was sentenced to 13.5 years in prison. Georgy Sobolev, technical director of the company that owns Zimnyaya Vishnya, Kemerovo Confectionery Plant, was sentenced to 11 years in prison.

The security guard of the shopping center Sergei Antyushin received 8 years in prison. Igor Polozinenko, the head of the company for the maintenance of the fire system, was sentenced to 6.5 years in prison, the employee of the company and the engineer of the fire system, Alexander Nikitin, to 5.5 years in prison. The head of extinguishing the fire in Zimnyaya Vishnya, Andrei Bursin, was sentenced to 6 years in prison, and firefighter Sergei Genin was sentenced to 5 years in prison.

The fire in “Winter Cherry” occurred on March 25, 2018. The fire broke out on the fourth floor of the mall, where there were cinemas and where there were many children on the day off. Of the 60 killed, 37 are children. More than 450 people were recognized as victims in the case. According to the investigation, the fire occurred as a result of a short circuit in the electrical wiring. Subsequently, several criminal cases were initiated under Art. 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (provision of services that does not meet safety requirements and resulted in the death of two or more persons) and Art. 219 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (violation of fire safety requirements, resulting in the death of two or more persons by negligence).
