Russian President Vladimir Putin has granted Russian citizenship to Uruguayan actress and singer Natalia Oreiro and her son Molio Oreiro Merlin Atahualpu. This is stated in the presidential decree, published on the official Internet portal of legal information.
In total, there are 30 people on the list of those who received citizenship, not counting their minor children. Persons who at the time of signing the decree were under 18 years old will receive citizenship after their parents take the oath.
On March 22, 2019, actress Natalia Oreiro in air programs “Evening Urgant” applied to Putin with a request to issue her a Russian passport. She explained that she had been to Russia about 15 times and felt more Russian than any other foreigner with Russian citizenship. “I’m even more Russian than Gerard Depardieu himself,” said the artist.
In the summer of 2020, she officially applied for Russian citizenship. Oreiro explained that she was offered to do this by employees of the Russian embassy in Argentina. “I travel so much and have so many connections with Russia that I was asked if I would like to formalize this. I said that it would be an honor for me. So I filled out a bunch of papers that I was asked to, and this is pending. ” said Orejro TASS.
In Russia, Oreiro gained fame in the mid-2000s after the show of the series “Wild Angel”.
