Groats producers have notified the chains about the increase in prices for buckwheat, oatmeal and cereals by 10-20% in November. About it writes Kommersant.
As stated in a letter from one of the manufacturers, the Rosa company, to retail chains – the reason for the rise in prices is the rise in the cost of raw materials and packaging. In particular, for buckwheat, the reason was the problems with the harvest in the Altai Territory, where producer prices for the year increased from 57 rubles to more than 80 rubles per 1 kg.
As a representative of Rusprodsoyuz told the publication, throughout the last year, food suppliers were holding back the rise in prices at the expense of their own profitability. This is confirmed by the Ministry of Agriculture.
According to the ministry, this year the area under buckwheat has grown by 12.1% to 975.9 thousand hectares. By October 22, Russia harvested 837.5 thousand tons of buckwheat, which is 22 thousand tons more than last year. The ministry noted that in 2021 more buckwheat was harvested in Russia than a year earlier. The director of Sovecon, Andrey Sizov, assumes that the rise in prices will slow down when a new crop enters the market.
