Citizens of the Russian Federation wishing to obtain an immigration visa to the United States must send an application to the American Embassy in Warsaw in connection with the suspension of processing of the corresponding appeals in the diplomatic missions of the United States in Russia. Washington usually includes applicants for an immigrant visa from those countries where the United States does not have a consular mission, as well as from countries where, due to an unstable political or security situation, the number of American consular staff is limited and they cannot process the corresponding applications for obtaining visas.
At the moment, in addition to Russians, the homeless category includes citizens of Cuba, Eritrea, Iran, Libya, Somalia, South Sudan, Syria, Venezuela, and Yemen. Since it is not possible to obtain a US immigrant visa in these countries, applications can be submitted to US consular offices located in other states.
According to the document, the applications of the Russians are considered by the US mission in Warsaw. Citizens of the Russian Federation residing in other countries can apply for an American immigrant visa at the US consulate in the host country.
The US Embassy in Russia has provided only emergency services to its citizens since May. Washington reported that from August 1 it will not be able to provide consular services due to a lack of personnel. It arose due to the fact that Russia included The United States was included in the list of “unfriendly” countries and forbade the American Embassy from hiring citizens of the Russian Federation and third countries in response to the imposition of sanctions and the expulsion of Russian diplomats.
