The Russian Ministry of Health approved the simultaneous introduction of the Sputnik V COVID-19 vaccine and the influenza vaccine. About it writes Interfax with reference to the assistant to the head of the department Alexei Kuznetsov.
He clarified that the drugs should be injected into different parts of the body – for example, into the left and right shoulder. “The opportunity to be vaccinated against covid and influenza at the same time makes vaccination more convenient for citizens and should become an additional incentive to take part in it,” Kuznetsov emphasized.
Sylvie Briand, Director of the Department for Global Preparedness for Highly Dangerous Infections of the WHO, also said that it is safe to be vaccinated against influenza and coronavirus at the same time.
Earlier in Russia it was impossible to simultaneously get vaccinated against coronavirus and flu. The interval between vaccinations had to be at least a month.
In the country for the first time since the beginning of the pandemic identified more than 37 thousand new cases of coronavirus infection per day. In Moscow, 8166 infected were identified – this is the maximum since June. In St. Petersburg, the infection was detected in 3233 people, in the Moscow region – in 2428.
Over the past day, 1,064 people have died in Russia due to the consequences of the coronavirus. This is the maximum for the entire time of the COVID-19 pandemic.
