The top manager of Transneft after leaving his post became an elite German developer with assets of $ 300 million – “Important Stories”

Kushnarev left Transneft in 2011 after a criminal case was opened over the theft of money from the company’s pension fund. One of the Transneft executives testified that this could have been the result of “improper execution” of the powers delegated to Kushnarev. However, the top manager avoided involvement in the business, resigned from his post and went into business in the West.

Business went uphill very quickly – the money went through a chain of offshore companies, and so rapidly that the German authorities suspected the Berlin development project with Kushnarev’s participation in money laundering, they write Vital Stories.

Just four years after Kushnarev left Transneft, a new residential complex with 83 apartments appeared in the prestigious Mitte district of Berlin, which was estimated at € 34 million. The developer was a company owned by Vladimir Kushnarev and his wife Tatyana. Their son Ivan was listed as one of the directors.

Another elite residential complex associated with the Kushnarevs was found by journalists in the elite district of Berlin, Charlottenburg. This asset for 43 apartments was estimated at € 19 million. The developer is another German company with the participation of the Kushnarevs. The house was completed in 2012 – the next year after Kushnarev left Transneft.

The main asset of the Kushnarevs is the Cypriot firm KLPP Insurance and Reinsurance Company (until 2015 it was called KLP Investments). Its earnings are impressive, writes Important Stories, which received the company’s consolidated financial data. According to these data, in the year Kushnarev was fired from the Russian state monopoly, his Cypriot firm accumulated assets worth about $ 260 million. Five years later, this amount was already $ 308 million, and a year later, it was $ 333 million. a little to take the bottom lines of the Forbes list – in 2016, the last places were shared by owners of a fortune of $ 350 million.

Kushnarev’s wife Tatyana denies having a 2011 consolidated report with assets of 260 million. According to her, she and her husband have been in business for over 30 years and their income is “significant to this day.” She also noted that the family pays high taxes in Russia. At the same time, the authors of the investigation note that even if we summarize the profits of the Kushnarevs’ companies over 20 years, such indicators cannot be achieved. The considerable salaries of Transneft’s top managers do not contribute to this either.

According to the newspaper, Kushnarev began his career in state-owned companies as Nikolai Tokarev’s deputy at the state-owned Zarubezhneft. Prior to that, he was the chairman of the board of the private insurance company “Plateau” for five years and eventually became its co-owner. Another co-owner and general director of the company was his wife Tatiana. Soon after Kushnarev came to Zarubezhneft, as well as its Vietnamese enterprises became Plato’s clients. In 2003, information about this appeared on the website of the insurance company.

The publication also found out that Transneft was also associated with Plateau – the state company insured risks in its insurance company SK Transneft. The reinsurer was the SOGAZ company, owned, among other things, by an old friend of the Russian president, Yuri Kovalchuk, and a relative of Putin, Mikhail Shelomov. She has already signed contracts for the next reinsurance of the enterprises of “Transneft” with the insurance company “Plateau” of the Kushnarevs.

In addition, according to Vostochnye Stories, since 2010, 5 offshore companies under loan agreements have provided millions of dollars, euros and rubles to the Cypriot company Kushnarevs and its subsidiaries. Then the debts were assigned or simply forgiven.
