In Vladikavkaz, prisoners from colony No. 1, where the riot had taken place the day before, were prosecuted for organizing and participating in mass riots (parts 1, 2 of article 212 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). About it reported on the website of the Office of the Investigative Committee for North Ossetia.
According to the investigation, the riots in the colony began at about 15:30 local time (coinciding with Moscow time). At least 200 prisoners took part in the riot.
According to preliminary data, the riot was preceded by a conflict on the territory of the industrial zone, allegedly due to the disagreement of the convicts to observe the regime established in the colony. They smashed surveillance cameras and internal doors on the premises of the penitentiary.
The FSIN reported that the riots in the colony were staged by two convicts of “negative orientation” from the punishment cell due to the conduct of mass searches.
Before the riot, the inmates of Colony No. 1 went on a hunger strike. “Inside the colony, they began to tighten up discipline. And so they went on a hunger strike against the measures taken. That was last week. ” told Commissioner for Human Rights in North Ossetia Tamerlan Tzgoev. According to him, there are many problems with the infrastructure in the colony, and it “needs to be brought into line”.
