The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry appealed to the authorities of the African state of Cape Verde and “raised the issue of criminal activity” by Natalia Poklonskaya, who was appointed Russian Ambassador by Russian President Vladimir Putin on October 13. About it writes RBC with reference to the representative of the department Oleg Nikolenko.
In Ukraine, several criminal cases were opened against Poklonskaya related to the annexation of Crimea by Russia.
“The former prosecutor of the Russian occupation administration in Crimea is wanted for high treason against our state. It is under the sanctions of Ukraine, EU, USA, Canada and Japan. It will not be possible to hide even in Africa, ”said Nikolenko.
On October 13, Russian President Vladimir Putin appointed former Crimean prosecutor and ex-State Duma deputy Natalia Poklonskaya as ambassador to Cape Verde. The decree about this is posted on the official Internet portal of legal information.
Poklonskaya told RIA Novosti that she had already completed an internship at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and courses at the Diplomatic Academy, and also collected all the information about Cape Verde.
Since 2014, Poklonskaya worked for two years as a prosecutor of the Crimea. In 2016, she left the post in connection with the election to the State Duma. Poklonskaya was Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Security and Anti-Corruption, then became Deputy Chairman of the Committee on International Affairs.
In May 2021, she refused to participate in the primaries of United Russia, explaining this by the transition to a new job.
In Ukraine, Poklonskaya is accused of treason. She has worked in the Ukrainian prosecutor’s office in Crimea since 2002, and she received the post of Prosecutor General of Crimea after the peninsula became part of Russia.
