The number of victims of poisoning with counterfeit alcohol in the Orenburg region has increased to thirty-four, according to the press service of the regional government.
It is noted that 24 people are now hospitalized. Seven are in serious condition, four are on mechanical ventilation, transfers Interfax. According to the press service, a total of seven foci of poisoning were registered.
On October 9, the Sovetsky District Court of Orsk in the Orenburg Region took into custody two more defendants in a criminal case of mass poisoning with counterfeit alcohol. Earlier it was reported about the arrest of the first accused.
On October 7, it became known about the mass poisoning by counterfeit alcohol of residents of several settlements of the Orenburg region. All of them purchased counterfeit alcoholic beverages in the city of Orsk.
Analyzes showed the presence of pure methanol in the biological fluids of victims and deceased. In some cases, its concentration in the body was 3-5 times higher than the lethal dose.
A criminal case was opened in connection with the mass poisoning of people. Ten people were detained, eight of them were arrested, the rest are awaiting trial to choose a preventive measure.
