The Sovetsky District Court of Orsk in the Orenburg Region took into custody two more defendants in a criminal case of mass poisoning with counterfeit alcohol. About it informs Interfax with reference to a court representative.

On October 7, it became known about the mass poisoning by counterfeit alcohol of residents of several settlements of the Orenburg region. In total, according to the latest data, 54 people were poisoned, 26 of them died. All of them purchased counterfeit alcoholic beverages in the city of Orsk.
Analyzes showed the presence of pure methanol in the biological fluids of victims and deceased. In some cases, its concentration in the body was 3-5 times higher than the lethal dose.
A criminal case was initiated under Part 3 of Art. 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (production and sale of goods that do not meet safety requirements, resulting in the death of more than two persons), part 6 of Art. 171.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (production and sale of unmarked alcoholic beverages committed on a large scale by a group of persons by prior conspiracy) and Part 1 of Art. 171.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (illegal production and circulation of alcohol-containing products, committed on a large scale).
In total, six people were detained on suspicion of committing a crime.
