Some experts warned in the fall of 2020 about the groundlessness of general hopes to stop the transmission of infection through vaccination. Experience with the influenza vaccines studied has shown that vaccinated people shed even more virus when they become ill than unvaccinated people. In milder cases, people vaccinated against influenza may be more active carriers of the virus. How active carriers are those vaccinated against COVID is still being studied. What is already known for certain from clinical trials of various vaccines against COVID-19 is that vaccination reduces the likelihood of developing serious illness and death, but has little effect on the risk of infection and lung, including asymptomatic, course of the disease.
Added to the picture of diverging expectations and realities was the sudden lack of long-term efficacy of vaccines. Director of NITsEM named after Gamalei Alexander Gunzburg promised Russians lifelong immunity after an infusion of his GamCovidVac, known as Sputnik V. It has now been found that the protective effect of COVID-19 vaccines has been declining over time. Paradoxically, this lack of vaccines has proven to be beneficial to the industry. Instead of giving vaccines cheaply to the poorest countries, it became possible to continue selling them dearly to rich countries for revaccination. It is the operation of the same perverse law of assistance.
The vaccine industry did everything a year ago to discredit the natural immunity that occurs after an illness. There were completely unnatural ideas (not only in Russia) that a person who had been ill is protected by immunity for only six months. Despite the fact that today there is already evidence of the preservation of immunity for at least a year, those who have recovered are forced to vaccinate six months after the illness.
This discrepancy between expectations, propaganda and the real picture of the spread of the epidemic has had a bizarre impact on people around the world. First of all, a critical attitude towards vaccines has blossomed unprecedentedly, up to their complete denial, called in the American manner anti-Vaxing. According to some polls, in Russia it is even more common among doctors than among the population: more than half of medical workers are now critical not only of anti-toxic vaccines, but of the national vaccination program in general. Meanwhile, information on the effectiveness and safety of vaccines does not provide grounds for this.
Record mortality
Vaccines protect well against the development of serious diseases. For example, now in the UK, with 80% of adults vaccinated among the dead, 80% are unvaccinated. In fig. 3 we see how in the UK, as the case fatality rate is vaccinated, the proportion of deaths from the number of cases is kept at a low level. Roughly the same is observed in Belgium and Israel. High mortality in Israel in the summer was observed with a very low incidence (small denominator) and is, in a sense, an artifact. In Russia, high mortality is also, apparently, an artifact. Many people die, including because of problems with the provision of medical care, but nevertheless, the main reason for the high mortality rate is the underestimation of the number of cases, including due to low volumes of testing.
