The same poll showed Lukashenko’s anti-rating (the question of who would not be voted for under any circumstances) at 49%, Tikhanovskaya – 40%, Babariko – 23%. In the hypothetical case of the second round, Babariko would have defeated any of the candidates.

Only 39% of respondents, answering the Chatham House question, called themselves supporters of the current government. 61% do not support the authorities. At the same time, 40% believe that Tikhanovskaya lost the confrontation with Lukashenka, but this does not apply to the 2020 elections, but to the current political situation.

Chatham House did not ask how they voted in last year’s election. But such a point was in a survey by the German Center for Eastern European and International Studies (ZoiS), conducted in March 2021. 53% of respondents statedthat they voted for Tikhanovskaya, and 65% believe that the election results were falsified in favor of Lukashenka. There were only 18% of those who voted for him – mostly older people living in small towns.
