Former Deputy Minister of Education Marina Rakova was detained, she is in the Main Investigation Department of the GUMVD in Moscow. About it reported Irina Volk, official representative of the ministry.
“Investigators are carrying out investigative actions with Marina Rakova,” Volk said.
Last week, the ex-deputy minister became a defendant in the case of embezzlement of more than 50 million rubles. She is suspected of lobbying for the allocation of funds from the budget to the Fund for New Forms of Education Development, in which she was the CEO, in 2019. The money was intended for government contracts for the federal project “Teacher of the Future”. Examinations revealed signs of falsification in reports on two “scientific investigations”.
Rakova’s home and work were searched, and they did not detain her. But the very next day the woman did not come for interrogation, turned off all phones and disappeared. After that, Rakova was put on the federal wanted list.
In 2019, Rakova served as Deputy Minister of Education. She left the position in March 2020 and moved to Sberbank as vice president.
