The price of Brent crude exceeded $ 83 per barrel for the first time since October 2018. This is evidenced by the bidding data.
Thus, the price of December futures for Brent grew by 1.81%, to $ 82.73 per barrel, at the moment exceeding the price of $ 83.11 per barrel. The cost of futures for the American WTI crude oil brand grew by 1.92%, to $ 79.11 per barrel, exceeding the $ 79 mark for the first time since November 2014.
Experts say the reason is the regular OPEC + meeting held the day before, following which the alliance decided not to accelerate the increase in oil production. Since August 2021, the organization has been increasing production by 400 thousand barrels per day per month, hoping to gradually remove these restrictions by the end of September 2022.
In addition, the rise in oil prices is also supported by the growth of stock market indices: European sites are growing by 1-1.5%, American ones – by 1.1-1.3%.
