The missing Yakut shaman Alexander Gabyshev was sent to the Novosibirsk psychiatric hospital of a specialized type with intensive supervision. About it informs “Novaya Gazeta” with reference to his lawyer Alexei Pryanishnikov.
“So far, we do not have any specific information about whether this medical institution is good or bad. Now he will collect it, find out. This is a hospital of the Ministry of Health, not the Federal Penitentiary Service, ”Pryanishnikov said.
Recall that Gabyshev was taken away for compulsory treatment on September 26, which was reported to the defense by employees of the Yakut pre-trial detention center, where the shaman was held until the court’s ruling entered into force. After that, it was not known for more than a week where Gabyshev was and what condition he was in.
There is still no connection with the shaman. According to Pryanishnikov, according to the established regime of intensive observation, Gabyshev in the hospital will have increased security, as well as “appropriate drugs and environment.”
“I believe this is the first large-scale case of the use of punitive psychiatry for political purposes,” Pryanishnikov told The Insider. “In the justification for the presence of the disease in Gabyshev, the presence of delusional ideas of reform is indicated. In their understanding, if you come up with some political demands and argue that something needs to be changed in the country, this suggests that you are a schizophrenic. To some extent, they are right, because in this country it is very difficult to change something and seriously hope for it – this is madness, but it is everyday madness. On the one hand, the Constitution stipulates that you can talk about it, that you have the right to do so, but in fact you are punished for it. I didn’t reveal any, even the slightest signs that Gabyshev has a mental disorder, ”- said the defender.
A criminal case on the use of violence against a government official against Gabyshev was opened in February this year. Later, the court satisfied the claim of the neuropsychiatric dispensary for the compulsory hospitalization of the shaman.
