Russian President Vladimir Putin has appointed a State Duma deputy from United Russia, Alexander Avdeev, Acting Governor of the Vladimir Region. Decree published on the Kremlin website.
The current governor of the region, a member of the Liberal Democratic Party Vladimir Sipyagin, resigned.
For the last five years Avdeev has been a State Duma deputy from United Russia, and in different years he has also held the posts of deputy governor of the Kaluga region and mayor of Obninsk.
Sipyagin became the head of the Vladimir region in 2018. Last week, he announced that he was stepping down from his post for the mandate of a State Duma deputy. According to Sipyagin, the new job will give him broader opportunities to defend the interests of the region.
