In the Saratov region, a policeman was engaged in cryptocurrency mining at the workplace

In the Saratov region, a criminal case has been initiated against the senior state inspector of the traffic police of the Russian MIA Administration for Saratov. He is suspected of abuse of office due to the mining of cryptocurrency in the workplace, informs regional GU MIA.

“The employee installed special software for mining cryptocurrencies on his work computer and used his service resources to make a profit,” the message says. The policeman was engaged in mining from December 2020 to July 2021. The damage caused to the department is estimated at 231 thousand rubles, informs site of the regional administration of the RF IC.

The investigating authorities opened a criminal case under Part 1 of Art. 286 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (abuse of office).

The Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs notes that if the policeman’s guilt is proven, he will be dismissed from the internal affairs bodies on negative grounds.

According to Baza, criminal punishment threatens police captain Sergei Tokarev. He was “subscribed to crypto channels and asked the auditors not to enter one of the technical rooms.”
