Thus, according to the Imedi TV company, 47.6% of voters voted for the Georgian Dream, the United National Movement party, which was created by the country’s ex-president Mikhail Saakashvili, voted for 27.1% of voters.
According to the Mtavari Archi TV company, Georgian Dream got 38.6% of the vote, United National Movement – 33%.
According to the TV company “Formula”, 46% of the residents voted for the ruling party, while Saakashvili’s party gained 33%.
In addition, according to the results of the exit polls of Formula and Imedi, the candidate from the Georgian Dream, the current mayor of the city, Kakha Kaladze, is leading in the elections for the mayor of Tbilisi. The second place was taken by the leader of the United National Movement, Nick Melia. At the same time, the Mtavari Archi TV channel reports that Melia is in the lead in the elections for the mayor of Tbilisi with 40.8% of the vote, while Kaladze is gaining 40.2%
Residents of Georgia voted for deputies of city and regional assemblies, as well as mayors of 64 cities. The Central Election Commission recorded that the turnout, as of 17:00 local time (16:00 Moscow time), was 41.35%. Polling stations closed at 20:00 local time (19:00 Moscow time).
Before the elections in Georgia arrived former president of the country Mikhail Saakashvili. This is his first visit to the country in eight years. On the evening of October 1, he was arrested and sent to prison, where he went on a hunger strike.
