Human rights activist Valentina Chupik left the transit zone of Sheremetyevo airport, where she spent seven days after her arrest, and flew to Yerevan. About it informs “Mediazona” with reference to the assistant of human rights activist Alexander Kim.

“Uzbekistan issued a new passport to Valentina Chupik. She is currently on board the plane that flew to Yerevan just over an hour ago, ”Kim said.

Chupik detained September 25 at Sheremetyevo, where she flew from Armenia. She was deprived of her refugee status until 2051, and they were also going to be deported to Uzbekistan, of which she is a citizen.

The human rights activist spent seven days in a room with bright spotlights, she was not allowed to charge her phone and her lawyers were not allowed to visit her.

On September 27, the Committee against Torture sent an urgent appeal to the European Court of Human Rights to suspend the expulsion of Chupik from Russia. They said she was at risk of torture and persecution by the authorities in her homeland.

In the afternoon of September 30, “Novaya Gazeta” with reference to the assistant to Chupik Alexander Kim reportedthat the staff of the consulate of Uzbekistan came to the human rights defender to draw up documents for her expulsion. Later, representatives of Chupik told the publication that they had applied for asylum at the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, as well as at the Ukrainian embassy and consulate in Russia.

An application for asylum in Ukraine was also filed on behalf of Chupik’s seriously ill mother. September 27 security forces came to 84-year-old Lyubov Kodentsova, who, like her daughter, is a civilian of Uzbekistan. According to Alexander Kim, she has osteoporosis “to such an extent that she cannot walk on her own, only on crutches or a wheelchair with someone else’s help.” The police wanted to draw up a protocol for the elderly woman about living outside the place of registration, but did not draw up anything.

In the evening of September 30, the ECHR banned the expulsion of Chupik, applying rule No. 39, according to which she could not be deported until at least October 17.
