Former owner of the Cherkizovsky market Telman Ismailov, detained the day before in Podgorica, asked for political asylum in Montenegro. About it informs Vijesti with reference to his lawyer Milos Vuksanovic.
“Telman Ismailov is a textbook example of political and economic persecution by Russia, in respect of which extensive documentation has been prepared, which will be presented as part of the asylum procedure. The fact that he applied for asylum and protection from Montenegro excludes the danger of his escape, ”the lawyer said.
Ismailov was arrested on October 2 on the basis of a warrant issued by Russia. He was placed in an extradition facility.
In Russia, Ismailov was charged in absentia with the murder of two entrepreneurs and illegal arms trafficking (part 2 of article 105 of the Criminal Code, part 3 of article 222 of the Criminal Code).
