The Nizhegorodsky district court sentenced 45-year-old resident of the city Roman Gusev to 1 year and 10 months in a strict regime colony in the case of the use of violence against a police officer, not dangerous to life (part 1 of article 318 of the Criminal Code). This was reported by Novaya Gazeta.
Gusev was taken into custody in the courtroom. The prosecutor requested three years in a maximum security colony. The lawyer said she would challenge the decision.
Nizhny Novgorod was detained on April 19 while trying to steal a bottle of whiskey from a supermarket. The footage from a street surveillance camera shows how the policeman, wringing Gusev’s leg, bends her on the back of the Gazelle and pulls the detainee out of the car. Gusev, in response to the policeman’s actions, stabs him with his left hand, after which the security officer enters the Gazelle and closes the door behind him. After some time, Gusev, as can be seen in the video, gets out of the car, bent over, spitting blood.
