The Moscow Magistrates’ Court for the Tagansky District found Google on September 29 guilty of two administrative offenses. These include the refusal to remove content prohibited in Russia.
“Google imposed an administrative fine in the amount of 6.5 million rubles”, – reported “Interfax” press secretary of the Tagansky court of Moscow Zulfiya Gurinchuk.
Another protocol for a similar offense was postponed by the court until November 8 due to the fact that Google was given time to familiarize itself with the case materials.
The amount of fines imposed by Russian courts against Google since the beginning of the year amounted to 39 million rubles. According to Roskomnadzor, the American company has paid only 3.5 million rubles so far.
Another fine was imposed on Google against the background of blocking two German-language projects of the RT channel on the video hosting of this company. On September 28, YouTube removed the RT DE and Der Fehlende Part channels for violating the Coronavirus False Information Policy. RT editor-in-chief Margarita Simonyan responded by demanding that Deutsche Welle and other German media be banned in Russia. And Roskomnadzor threatened to block YouTube if the service does not unblock RT channels.
In July, Google for the first time was fined by 3 million rubles due to the refusal to localize the data of the Russians.
