A volcanic eruption on the island of Palma, part of the Canary Islands, destroyed more than 150 houses. About it informs SER string.
“More than 150 houses have disappeared,” the island’s council chairman, Mariano Zapata, is quoted as saying by the radio station. According to him, while the authorities do not plan to additionally evacuate residents.
Earlier, due to the appearance of a new lava flow, an evacuation was carried out in one of the areas of the municipality of El Paso. As a result, the total number of people who had to leave their homes due to the eruption reached about 6 thousand.
On September 19, a volcanic eruption began on Palma in the area of the settlement of El Paso. An active ejection of volcanic materials occurs from the crater of the volcano. On Tuesday night, four more earthquakes of small magnitude were recorded on Palma.
