The Moscow Arbitration Court ordered Sobesednik to issue a refutation of the article “Lunnaya Polyana was covered for Putin: a personal resort cost Russia about 50 billion” at the suit of Rosneft. About it informs Media Rights Protection Center.
The court partially satisfied the claim. Igor Sechin’s oil company demanded that six “controversial fragments” be removed and that 500 million rubles be collected from the editorial office and journalist Oleg Roldugin.
“The court recognized all the information contested by the plaintiffs as defamatory, ordered them to refute, but at the same time completely refused to recover compensation for reputational damage,” explained lawyer Yekaterina Shmygina.
The claimant justified compensation in the amount of 500 million rubles by the fall in the value of the shares after the publication of the controversial article. “However, this could be influenced by completely different factors, and the decline in shares began a day before the placement of the article, and in the entire oil and gas sector,” she added.
Oleg Roldugin’s material was released on March 31, 2021. It spoke about the ski resort in Adygea, where President Vladimir Putin is resting. As the publication wrote, the facility, formally called the testing ground of the Biosphere scientific center, was built under the supervision of the Presidential Property Management Department and the Federal Security Service, commissioned by Rosneft. Now article deleted.
