The Ministry of Justice of Russia proposes to count the day a convict goes to a colony under escort as a day and a half in a colony. The corresponding bill has been published on the federal portal of draft regulatory legal acts.
It is proposed to equate one day of transfer to one and a half days in prison or a correctional colony of a strict or special regime, or to two days in an educational colony, a correctional colony of a general regime or a colony-settlement.
In 2018, a law was adopted on the offset of the time spent in a pre-trial detention center in the period of serving a sentence of imprisonment, but it does not apply to the time of transportation of a convicted person to the place of serving the term.
“The bill proposes to supplement Article 72 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation with a new part six, which provides that the time spent by the convicted person to the place of serving the sentence is counted in the term of imprisonment at the rate of one day for one and a half days of serving the sentence in a prison or a correctional colony of strict or special regime and one day for two days of serving a sentence in an educational colony, or a general regime correctional colony, or a colony-settlement, ”the explanatory note says.
The gravity of the crime committed will not be taken into account.
