In China, ByteDance, which owns video-sharing platform TikTok, has banned children under the age of 14 from using the Douyin app (which is the Chinese version of TikTok) for more than 40 minutes a day. About it informs Kommersant.
To do this, a special mode was activated in the application, which also does not allow users under the age of 14 to watch videos on Douyin at night – from 10 pm to 6 am. The company asked parents to ensure that their children authenticated their account using their real first and last name.
In addition, this mode offers young users a variety of educational content to arouse their interest in a particular area and make watching videos useful.
Earlier, the National Printing and Publishing Administration of China published new rules for IT companies for users under 18 years of age. Minors were banned from playing online games for more than one hour on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and public holidays. At the same time, they can play only from 20:00 to 21:00 local time.
