Russian businessman Oleg Tinkov reached a pre-trial agreement with the US Department of Justice in the case of violation of American tax laws. About it informs TASS with reference to court materials.
According to the agency, the parties submitted a joint motion to the judge, which states that “the parties have reached an agreement” to resolve the case. They ask to schedule a court hearing on October 1, during which agreements will be presented regarding the confession of guilt by Tinkov.
It is also clarified that the accused provided materials testifying in favor of the fact that his arrival in the United States would be unsafe for his health due to treatment for cancer.
This decision has not yet been approved by the judge.
Recall that at the end of February 2020, the US tax service filed claims against Tinkov for violating American tax laws. According to the US Department of Justice, the businessman provided deliberately false information about his assets when he renounced his American citizenship in 2013. He faces up to six years in prison on the charges.
