A court in Nizhny Novgorod fined the head of the “Committee against Torture” Igor Kalyapin 10 thousand rubles under the article on participation in the activities of an “undesirable” organization (Article 20.33 of the Administrative Code). About it informs Telegram channel of the Committee Against Torture.
Kalyapin was found guilty of collaborating with the Czech NGO Man in Trouble, which was declared “undesirable” in Russia in 2019.
At the same time, the case contains screenshots of publications from the website of the Committee against Torture from 2015, 2016 and 2017 with a reference to the Czech organization, when it was not yet considered “undesirable”.
A protocol was drawn up against Kalyapin in July after a complaint by a former member of the All-Russian Popular Front Ilya Savinov. Savinov claimed in his complaint that the “Committee against Torture” receives foreign funding.
