RF government approved a program for the voluntary resettlement of Russians who live abroad.
According to the decree published on the portal of regulatory legal acts, the Russian authorities plan to return at least 500 thousand compatriots to Russia from 2022 to 2030.
To this end, groups of employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Internal Affairs will have to travel abroad, where they will talk about the resettlement program and persuade people to return. It is emphasized that the move must be paid for from the federal budget.
The decree “On measures to assist the voluntary resettlement of compatriots living abroad to the Russian Federation” was signed by President Vladimir Putin in 2006. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, in 2009 about 9 thousand people returned to Russia. By the second quarter of 2021, more than 19 thousand people were registered with the program.
At the beginning of September this year, Vladimir Putin statedthat the population of Russia at present could reach 500 million people, if events such as the 1917 revolution and the collapse of the USSR had not happened. The President stressed that this was the conclusion reached by “experts” whose names Putin did not mention.
