Moscow’s Zamoskvoretsky Court fined three journalists from Vostochnye Stories, Alesya Marokhovskaya, Irina Dolinina and Polina Uzhvak, for single pickets against the law on “foreign agents”. About it informs “Novaya Gazeta” with reference to the journalists themselves.
The amount of the fine was 10 thousand rubles for each participant in the picket.
The journalists intend to appeal this decision.
They held this action on September 8, the International Day of Journalists’ Solidarity. Journalists from Vostochnye Stories came out with placards to the building of the Ministry of Justice and stood in solitary pickets in protest against their recognition as “foreign agents.” They were detained despite the fact that they kept the distance of 50 meters established by law. The police took them to the “Yakimanka” police station and drew up protocols under the “meeting” article (part 5 of article 20.2 of the Administrative Code).
