The Danish government has introduced a bill to parliament that prohibits life-sentenced prisoners from having new romantic relationships. About it writes BBC.
The bill assumes that in the first 10 years of the term, prisoners will be able to communicate only with people close to them. In addition, the bill prohibits convicts from posting messages about their crimes on social networks and discussing them in podcasts. According to the authorities, appropriate restrictions should prevent the appearance of fans among prisoners.
As the newspaper notes, the bill appeared two years after the 18-year-old Danish woman Camilla Kurstein announced her love for the inventor Peter Madsen. In April 2018, he was sentenced to life in prison for the murder and dismemberment of journalist Kim Wall.
The Danish edition BT wrote that during the appeal against Madsen’s verdict in the courtroom, he was watched by three women, each of whom had feelings for him. One of them – a prison guard – had to quit because of sympathy for the prisoner.
In October 2018, BT published an interview with a 48-year-old Madsen fan who stated her indifference to what crime he committed. At the same time, the interlocutor of the Danish edition assured that Madsen was not interested in sexually.
Due to Madsen’s contacts with women, he was soon completely banned from dating them. The Danish People’s Party, in turn, proposed at the legislative level to limit the communication of prisoners with women whom they meet while in prison.
In the summer of 2019, Camilla Kurstein in a conversation with reporters toldwho corresponded and spoke with Peter Madsen on the phone for two years. The BBC emphasizes that the Danish woman began to be jealous of Madsen after in December 2019 he married 39-year-old Russian artist Jenny Kurpen, an ex-activist who asked for political asylum in Finland.
