Moscow sports schools refuse to enroll children whose parents did not agree to the collection of their personal data, as well as photo and video filming. About it writes “Kommersant” with reference to the organization “Moscow Parents”.
The journalists got acquainted with the correspondence between the parents of students and the sports department of the capital, the Moscow City Duma and the prosecutor’s office. The letters say that when enrolling in sports schools, parents are required to sign a consent to the collection and processing of biometric data from children. If the parents refuse, the child is not enrolled.
The sports department, in response to complaints, stated that “consent to the processing of personal data is an integral part of the contract for the provision of sports training services” and provides for Part 4 of Art. 421 of the Civil Code on “freedom of contract”.
Vera Troshina, coordinator of the legal service of Parents of Moscow, said that parents are obliged to provide personal data of their children already at the stage of their enrollment in a kindergarten or school. Parents were told that from September 1, all cameras in sports schools will begin to be connected to the face recognition system and motion sensors, she said.
In the beginning of September became knownthat the Moscow authorities intend to introduce a face recognition system in schools by 2022. It is planned that schoolchildren and teachers will be allowed into educational institutions only after biometric authentication. According to the authorities, the system is needed to “improve personal safety.”
