The Ministry of Justice included the journalist of “Open Media” (publication blocked in Russia) Ilya Rozhdestvensky in the register of “foreign agents” because of materials about Attorney General Igor Krasnov, the case of journalist Ivan Safronov, accused of treason, and street protests. The Ministry of Justice did not provide any documents confirming that Rozhdestvensky received money from abroad.
The first publication in the list of Rozhdestvensky’s articles, which became the reason for the “foreign agency”, dates back to December 31, 2019. It is about the material under heading: “Threats-2020. We will tell you what problems Russians can expect next year. ” “There are now 70 sheets of my texts in business”, – wrote Rozhdestvensky on Facebook.

Apparently, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs just gave the necessary paper from the Ministry of Justice, without going into details, ”- suggested Christmas. He also noted that the Ministry of Justice did not provide the court with documents confirming “foreign funding” of his activities. “The Ministry of Justice claims that they have papers from Rosfinmonitoring, but they were not presented to the court,” he said.
In July, the Ministry of Justice included to the list of media “foreign agents” of four journalists of “Open Media”. The editor-in-chief of the publication Yulia Yarosh, her deputy Maxim Glikin and journalist Ilya Rozhdestvensky were included in the register. At the same time, four more journalists and The Insider were included in the list. August 4 Roskomnadzor blocked Khodorkovsky’s Open Media projects, «MBH media» and “Legal protection of the Postcard”… The agency explained that it blocked access to the “resources of the Open Russia Civic Movement, Open Russia”, which were recognized as “undesirable”. The next day the media announced about closing.
