Khodorkovsky’s project made it possible to view information about candidates for the State Duma and choose whom to vote for. On the resource, candidates for the future convocation of the State Duma are divided into different groups depending on their public position regarding the possible extension of the powers of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
In July, Roskomnadzor, at the request of the Prosecutor General’s Office, blocked several websites created by Alexei Navalny’s team. These included his personal blog navalny.com, created to organize a rally for the release of the oppositionist, the website free.navalny.com, as well as all the sites of his regional headquarters, the network of which the Moscow City Court recognized as an extremist organization on June 9. Last week, Roskomnadzor blocked the Smart Voting website; the blocking of the regulator was explained by the request of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
Alexei Navalny filed a lawsuit against Roskomnadzor and the Prosecutor General’s Office. This follows from the card index of the Tverskoy court of Moscow.
As Navalny’s associate Ivan Zhdanov explained to The Insider, the lawsuit was filed in connection with an appeal against the blocking of the sites navalny.com and free.navalny.com.
“Our goal is to reach the ECHR, we consider blocking illegal, and the claim is fully structured for filing a complaint with the ECHR,” Zhdanov said.
