“The main motive of the 30-year-old player was the desire to focus on his club career, which he had previously informed the coaching staff of the national team and the RFU,” the message says.
“Unfortunately, injuries have also become more frequent. I would like to focus on playing for the club that became my home and give the youth the opportunity to develop in the national team. So I decided to leave right now. It was a great honor for me to wear the national team jersey, to defend its colors, I will never forget that! – quotes the RFU of Fernandez himself.
As part of the Russian national team, Fernandez made his debut on September 3, 2017. He played 33 official matches for the team, in which he scored 5 goals.
