Investigators are checking information about a three-year-old boy tied to a hospital in St. Petersburg, writes Fontanka. Earlier, a local resident posted on Instagram a video with a child taken at the city children’s infectious diseases hospital.
According to the woman, an orphan named Vitya was treated “like a dog”: he was tied to a child’s chair and a crib so that he could not move on his own.
Doctors justified this treatment of the boy. “You can’t pick it up! Then he will cry and you will not put him to sleep. He is a child of drug addicts, he is already spitting, and what will happen next! ” they said.
The hospital staff also prohibited the woman who filmed the video from approaching the boy. “Don’t give him anything, don’t touch him!” – said the paramedics.
After the video spread in social networks, the hospital’s office of the children’s ombudsman in St. Petersburg reacted to what was happening in the hospital. And on the night of September 12, employees of the Investigative Committee arrived at the medical institution.
After the intervention of the children’s ombudsman, Vitya was untied and handed over to a nanny for round-the-clock supervision. According to the author of the video, the child was first put on a potty and taken for a walk.
The nanny will look after the boy “until he recovers completely,” said Oleksandr Popeyko, a spokesman for the Children’s Ombudsman’s Office.
