The Interprofessional Champagne Wine Committee has canceled the recommendation to ban the supply of French champagne to Russia. About it writes the magazine Terre de Vins, which specifies that deliveries can be resumed as early as September 15th.
The ban on the export of French wines to Russia was introduced by the committee shortly after the amendments to the regulation of alcoholic beverages, adopted by the State Duma and the Federation Council, entered into force in Russia. According to the law, the term “champagne” is allowed to be used only in relation to “Russian champagne” produced in Russia.
Due to alcohol regulation amendments, the premium spirits division Moët Hennessy suspended deliveries of sparkling wines to Russia for an indefinite period. Later the company made a decision restore supplies labeled “sparkling wine”.
