Retail prices for gasoline in Russia fell for the first time since September 2020, informs Interfax. For the week from August 30 to September 6, gasoline fell on average by 15 kopecks, diesel – by 7 kopecks, according to Rosstat data.
Thus, the prices for motor gasoline fell by 0.31%, for diesel fuel – by 0.14%. The average price for AI-92 dropped to 45.99 rubles, for AI-95 – to 49.82 rubles (-16 kopecks), for AI-98 —57.57 rubles per liter (-8 kopecks).
Fuel prices fell in 68 regional capitals, while prices went up in 11. Prices are strongest fell in Ufa (0.9%), Orel and Orenburg – 0.8% each, respectively. The most noticeable increase in gasoline prices was observed in the Chechen capital Grozny (1.2%) and Tuvan Kyzyl (1%). In Moscow, gasoline prices fell by 0.4%, in St. Petersburg – by 0.5%.
The Ministry of Energy believes that the decline in retail prices for gasoline was the result of “saturation of the domestic market” with oil companies, despite the repair of refineries – oil refineries. In the spring, gasoline prices, on the contrary, were higherthan for the whole of 2020. Since the beginning of the year, gasoline has risen in price by 6.2% with inflation at 5%. At the Accounts Chamber warnedthat Russia could face a fuel crisis due to “social tensions”.
