This is the speech of Valentina Tereshkova on the occasion of the adoption of the Constitution in 1977, published in the Izvestia newspaper. She was repeatedly recalled in connection with another, more famous speech about the Constitution, which Tereshkova delivered in 2020. It was then, having supported the amendments, Valentina Vladimirovna and offered to “reset” Putin.
43 years passed between these performances. The country, the ruling party, the constitution itself have changed – and only Valentina Tereshkova, as if nothing had happened, continues to make solemn speeches. And listen to thunderous applause.
The world’s first female astronaut, she flew into space in 1963. A symbol of great achievements and great courage, the beginning of the space age is associated with it. Tereshkova could remain a symbol, talk about the importance of science and space exploration, teach at the university, and conduct a popular science program on television. To be a wonderful, worthy moral guideline for the whole world. But Tereshkova chose a political career. Not even a completely political career, but selfless service to any current government.
3 years after her flight, in 1966, she became a deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR and since then has wandered from one post to another, until a year and a half ago, in 2020, she did her second main act in life, for which we and remember – she did not offer to reset Putin’s presidential terms and let him rule forever.

55 years. For 55 years this woman has been holding a public office in our country. All this time she was a deputy. State bodies changed, and Valentina Tereshkova adapted, pleased the new bosses and retained her place under the ruling party. In 2011, she naturally stuck to United Russia and became a deputy already from her. Now, in 2021, she is again going to be elected… At the end of her new term as a deputy, she will be almost 90.
The biography of Valentina Tereshkova sincerely seems to us incredible and not at all because she once had a chance to fly around the Earth for three days. She is ready to love, praise and warmly thank any authority. For many years she was a member of the CPSU, and now she is a member of United Russia.
In the Soviet Union, she signed appeals to “young atheists-Leninists”, which, in particular, said that religion is a great evil – and now enters to the inter-factional group in the State Duma for the protection of Christian values. Valentina Tereshkova was able to sell any of her beliefs, to carry out any order. For this omnivorousness and lack of principles, Tereshkova was appointed head of zeroing. Putin personally could not offer this and simply hid behind the famous cosmonaut. He needed a respected talking head, which at the right time would open its mouth and utter the cherished words, and Valentina Tereshkova had been proving for decades that she can do this best of all. Perhaps, if Belka and Strelka could become deputies and nullify Putin, he would have forced them to do it too.
Valentina Tereshkov is treated like a trophy – wiped before important dates and put in a prominent place in order to silence the dissatisfied. Who dares to criticize the national heroine? But don’t think that she doesn’t understand what role she got. Tereshkova is well aware of this, and she also realizes what she did when she voted on orders for decades and in the end provided us with eternal Putin. And she decided that her family would not live in such a country. The Russians, please, do not feel sorry for them. But her own children deserve the best. Not the state that their mother had been building for 50 years.
When Tereshkova visited space and saw from above all the continents of the Earth, she said that she was very interested in Australia. And she dreamed of going there. In the end, she went to Australia, everything is fine, but, apparently, she was too far away. For her daughter Valentina Vladimirovna took a closer look at the place.
This is Bergamo, a city in northern Italy, 50 kilometers from Milan. A wonderful place in the foothills of the Alps. It is here, Tereshkova thought, that my children and grandchildren will live. Not in Russia, where I have been a deputy for 55 years and pass laws, but here.
In this house there is an apartment that officially belongs to Valentina Tereshkova’s daughter, Elena, and her husband, Andrei Rodionov.
It was bought back in 2013 – that is, no one has any illusions about my mother’s work in the Tereshkova family for a long time. The area of the apartment is 123 square meters, and there is also a huge underground garage, 49 meters.

55 years. Just think – 55 years old Tereshkova deputy. For more than half a century it has been adopting the laws by which our country lives. Tereshkova outlived six leaders of our country, from Khrushchev to Yeltsin. But let’s be honest: the seventh, Putin, especially given his new endless powers, she is unlikely to survive. And Tereshkova perfectly understands what inheritance she leaves to her children and grandchildren. So she insured herself – she provided them with real estate in sunny, prosperous Italy, where there is neither Putin, nor United Russia, nor inhuman laws for which she has been regularly voting for many years.
In 2018 Valentina Tereshkova, for example, supported raising the retirement age. It would seem that you are already over 80. Well, what is there to be afraid of? She could send everyone to hell, remain in history not only as a woman who made a historic flight, but also as a real defender of her homeland, a person who did not make a deal with his conscience, remained faithful to people. But no. She learned and got used to living this way – to blindly follow the instructions, otherwise something would not work out. Now in the State Duma this is no longer a real living person, but just a doll, a talking dummy, who is pulled by strings and forced to read from a piece of paper. She is kept in power only so that she launders other people’s criminal decisions with her only long-standing feat.
Here you can say: well, you must have respect! But answer yourself: how can such a thing be respected? Valentina Tereshkova many years ago made the only brave act, and then completely blotted it out with her future life. How can a person be considered a hero who has been mumbling eulogies to all the leaders in the world and adopting harmful laws for 50 years? Who condemns his country to the eternal reign of a crazy grandfather? Tereshkova turned out to be so weak-willed and cowardly that she had never been able to say no in her life, and she does not deserve condescension.
But 55 years as a servant in power seemed to her a little. She was going to be a deputy for another 5 years and is now going to the polls again. It is nominated in the Yaroslavl region, it is the first number in the list there. This means that in the event of the victory of United Russia, Tereshkova will become a deputy by train. She will continue to wipe her pants in the Duma chair and press the necessary buttons. And if necessary, they will again take her out of the dusty suitcase, put her behind the podium, slip a piece of paper and make her read.
Tereshkova in the Duma can be fought in one way. From September 17 to September 19, residents of Yaroslavl must come to the polling stations, take a ballot containing the names of the parties and vote AGAINST United Russia. “Smart voting” does not work according to the lists, so it will not work to prevent a specific Tereshkova from joining the Duma. But in Yaroslavl we still have a great chance to take revenge on United Russia.
